These pickups feature special beveled edge Alnico V magnets and enamel-coated magnet wire. | 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful  Great end result, rough process, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Fender Vintage Noiseless Stratocaster Pickups Set White, 3 Pickups (Electronics) I purchased these pickups to see if I could upgrade my old Squire Strat rather than dropping money on a new higher end guitar. In the end, I achieved a fantastic result. It just took a while to get it right.The first set I received had a bad middle pickup. Unfortunately, I did not discover this until I had completely reassembled my guitar and tried to play it. I should have checked them before installation, but it didn't occur to me they might be bad. To their credit, Amazon quickly sent me another set and these pickups checked out fine at 10k ohms. But I had to de-solder the first set to send it back which was twice as much work as the original installation. Also, as mentioned in other posts, the diagram provided with this pickup set is wrong. It doesn't show the correct location of the caps and resistor, and shows all 1 meg pots, whereas the volume pot is 500k. If you buy these, go to the Fender website and download the wiring diagram for the American Deluxe... The task was not easy because the instructions from Fender are very poor. You have to do some guess work mostly with the bridge pickup, the knobs, and the five-way switch. When you detach the old pickguard with the electronic, keep it as a reference. If you are upgrading your Squire chances are that you have to make more space for the new pickups in the body of your guitar carving some wood. But after a couple of trial and errors, the money and time spent was worth it. Wow! What a great fender classic sound! Do not hesitate and upgrade your guitar... NOW! They are AWESOME, great sound, no noise, and such versatility. With a 5-way pick up I am amazed at the rich variety of sounds I can get out of my great guitar. Need to scream? Bridge pick up. Need to sound classic Strat? Middle. I play through and old Carvin tube amp with a Celestion vintage sound speaker and the combination is perfect. I play a lot of Pink Floyd and it is so easy to get all the Gilmourish sounds. Really cool, I would recommend them highly. |
